In September 4, 2024, a training workshop focused on value addition to plant residues took place at Niyadavana Viharaya in Polpithigama GND. The event aimed to empower local entrepreneurs by teaching them how to market natural products and monetize various plant parts.
Participants learned innovative techniques for utilizing waste plant materials, such as banana stems, to create valuable products. The workshop included hands-on activities, such as making items from banana leaves and producing natural wool and paper from banana stems. These skills are intended to help farmers incorporate advanced practices into their work.
