The Mung Bean Cultivation Project has been implemented in the Kurunegala and Puttalam districts with the aim of increasing farmers’ income, ensuring food security, and improving the nutritional levels of the low-income population in these areas.

This project covers 750 farmers and 391.5 acres of cultivated land across the two districts. As a result, during the 2024 Yala season, a harvest of 13,400 kg was obtained from the Puttalam District, while the Kurunegala District yielded 32,615 kg. Accordingly, a total harvest of 46,000 kg was achieved during the Yala season.
