Tank rehabilitation

Tank rehabilitation is a crucial component of the SARP project, which aims to restore 173 small-scale tanks in the project areas. These tanks serve as vital water sources for agriculture in the dry zones of Sri Lanka. In addition to the rehabilitation efforts, the SARP project also offers training programs on Cascade Management for the beneficiaries.

The Tank Rehabilitation Project plans to rehabilitate 173 tanks, of which construction activities have commenced for 14 tanks in the Kurunegala District, achieving a physical progress of approximately 95%. In the Vavuniya District, construction activities have begun for 16 tanks, with 12 of them achieving 79% progress. Similarly, in the Anuradhapura District, construction has started for 7 tanks, with a physical progress of 80%. In the Mannar District, construction for 5 tanks commenced in September this year. For the above 42 tanks, the total contracted amount is Rs. 520,684,574.30, of which Rs. 205,483,765.00 has been paid as of December 31.

 

 

Construction of feeder roads

Construction of feeder roads for value addition development: Under this project, Rs. 605 million has been allocated for the year 2025 to construct feeder roads as essential infrastructure for 4P business activities and to support value addition development for the resulting harvest. Under this initiative, it is planned to develop roads with a total length of 256 kilometers.
